A New Podcast on Games, Development, and Culture

Production Begins on The Gentleland Show !

We’re excited to share that production has officially begun on The Gentleland Show, a new podcast dedicated to the intersection of game development, design, and culture.

Whether you’re deep in the indie game scene, dreaming up your first prototype, or just love thinking about what makes games meaningful—this podcast will be for you.

What’s The Gentleland Show About?

This isn’t just another game review podcast. The Gentleland Show explores how games are made, why certain design choices stick with us, and how games reflect (or challenge) the world around them.

We talk about everything from the grind of building your first vertical slice, to the weird overlaps between storytelling and systems design, to how games are evolving alongside art, tech, and community.

If you’ve ever asked, “Why does this game feel the way it does?” or “How did this studio pull that off?” — you’re in the right place.

Meet the Hosts

We’re bringing a mix of creative and industry experience to every episode:

  • Jacky Martin – Founder of Gentleland, computer scientist, digital artist, and champion for weird, beautiful indie games.
  • Edwin – Composer, sound designer, and opera singer who bridges music and emotion in games.
  • Sam – Business and marketing expert, co-founder of Gentleland, and strategist for businesses worldwide.

Together, we bring different perspectives to the table but we all care about the same thing: meaningful, impactful games.

What to Expect

The first season is already in the works. Here’s a taste of what’s coming:

  • Deep dives into design choices and development workflows
  • Honest conversations about burnout, ambition, and staying creative
  • Spotlights on lesser-known games with powerful stories
  • Reflections on how games connect to culture, art, and identity
  • Marketing insights for devs navigating a crowded industry

Whether you’re tuning in during a dev sprint or relaxing post-launch, the podcast is designed to inform, inspire, and occasionally make you laugh.

Why We’re Making This

Games are more than code and pixels. They’re cultural artifacts.
At Gentleland we have a deep love for gaming and gaming culture. For us games are emotional journeys. But they are also businesses, experiments, and creative risks.

We started The Gentleland Show because we wanted a space to unpack all of that and connect with others who care just as much as we do.

But that’s not all! We are also creating this podcast in the context of something bigger.

The podcast is part of that journey—a behind-the-scenes look into the creative process, the thinking behind the project, and the people building it.
